Characters:
Ellyrion: afraid of hamsters. main character, about eighth grade. social outcast. only one friend, Shauna. likes math and science.
Bernard: the wizard who helps Ellyrion. a science teacher at their school. kind of a mentor. not typical. has a strange personality. has this thing against bananas.
Tristan: Bernard’s sworn enemy. knew each other in childhood. dark lord. likes LotR, a lot. has a genetically engineered pet hamster.
Shauna: a schoolmate of Ellyrion. talkative, spacey. gets captured by Tristan. hates LotR. gets tortured and betrays Ellyrion. she and Ellyrion have been friends since second or third grade.
Kasë: Tristan’s genetically engineered pet hamster who is sent to attack Ellyrion.
Faraday: Bernard’s somewhat obnoxious pet parrot...
Luminas: the overly-hyper messenger who is encountered by Ellyrion in the cave and follows she and Faraday.

Beginning: Ellyrion is at school and she and Shauna see that they are put into Bernard’s class for science. They aren’t sure what to expect because they heard he was a hard teacher.
Problem: Shauna thinks Bernard is wierd, but Ellyrion isn’t so sure. Something about the funny man intrigues her and she wants to find out more. But she’s in for an interesting adventure.
One: Shauna quits coming to class all of a sudden. Ellyrion doesn’t see her friend and wonders what really happened.
Two: She finds Bernard in the hallways after school hours and persuades him to help her figure out what happened to Shauna. He refuses, claiming that it’s none of her business to meddle in the affairs of wizards.
Three: Ellyrion manages to persuade Bernard to let her borrow Faraday, thinking that the parrot will possibly help her. Reluctantly, he says yes.
Four: Meanwhile, Tristan has captured Shauna and won’t let her go. He tortures her by forcing her to watch LotR until she tells him every piece of information she knows about both Bernard and Ellyrion.
Five: Ellyrion has this horrible dream that Shauna has been killed by the dark lord Sauron (yes, she likes LotR and is somewhat addicted). She wakes up in the middle of the night and sends Faraday to find Bernard.
Six: Unbeknownst to Ellyrion at the time, Bernard knew what happened to Shauna and also knows how to help her. Before telling this to Ellyrion, he swears her to secrecy and claims he didn’t trust her at first.
Seven: Shauna recalls that Bernard hates bananas after remembering when Ellyrion brought banana bread for their class and he didn’t eat any. She tells this to Tristan, but he still doesn’t release her.
Eight: Ellyrion is sent out on a mission into Tristan’s underground cave, along with the help of Faraday. She meets Luminas, who tells her how to get to the Dungeon, where Shauna is being held.
Nine: Unfortunately for Ellyrion, her sense of direction is poor at best. She gets lost and ends up in Tristan’s inventing room, where Kasë has escaped from his cage.
Ten: Kasë escapes from his cage and Ellyrion screams. She’s very afraid of hamsters (she was bitten by the class pet hamster in kindergarten), so she starts running away, followed by Faraday, squawking at her to stop.
Eleven: She runs into a dead end. Kasë climbs up onto her head and starts licking her head. Turns out, he was mostly for scaring purposes and is fairly non-savage, after all. Faraday then leaves, which Ellyrion is so freaked out by the fact that Kasë is on her head that she doesn’t even notice.
Twelve: Faraday has gone to warn Bernard. He isn’t pleased that Ellyrion has started to panic, but he sets out to see what’s going on and do whatever he can.
Thirteen: Meanwhile, Tristan sends another one of his messengers (a human, this time!) to attack Bernard with a banana. Use banana reference from Monty Python (I think it’s from there...).
Fourteen: Bernard sees Luminas and gets information out of her by asking questions about where Ellyrion went. Luminas gives him answers, though she can’t stop laughing. She follows Bernard (who she can see because he glows in the dark!) to where Ellyrion is still standing, screaming because Kasë is still on her head.
Fifteen: Bernard throws a piece of chalk at Kasë to get the hamster off Ellyrion’s head. The hamster scrambles after the chalk, thinking it’s something to eat. Tristan gets word that Bernard and Ellyrion are both in his inventing room and sets out to find them, a captive Shauna closely behind.
Sixteen: Faraday begins squawking that someone is coming, but Ellyrion pays no heed. She runs for the door, darting around Tristan’s legs and out of his reach. Faraday bites Tristan’s hand, causing him to release the cord that is tied around Shauna’s handcuffs.
Seventeen: Ellyrion and Shauna escape, but Bernard is still in the labratory. Being a scientist himself, he should be able to outsmart Tristan, and he starts looking for ingredients he needs to defeat Tristan.
Eighteen: He uses a thermite reaction to burn out Tristan’s eyes (living in a cave, Tristan is very accustomed to the dark and hates the light), giving everyone a chance to escape.
End: They escape and make it back to school in time. A wild, crazy adventure for all of them. Shauna finds out that Bernard is a wizard. Everything works out just fine.
