Artist's Comments

So we were learning about the several uses of the dative case (for nouns) in Latin class this morning and this was one of the examples our instructor used.

I'm rather pleased with how it turned out, particularly the illuminations and the border. And the actual gothic lettering, neither of which are strong points for me (as many of you can attest to...)

Latin: "nobis propositum est vera discere."
English Translation (probably not very literal): "It is our intention to learn the truth."

Date Completed: 10.15.2007
Time: About three hours total
Alphabet: Blackletter Gothic
Materials: 2.5 mm black chisel point calligraphy pen, various sharpies, silver metallic permanent marker, 0.3 mm black drawing pen

Calligraphy and artwork is copyright me.

*sighs* Your calligraphy is so beautiful.
I need to get me a proper calligraphy pen again. It's such hard work without!
Do you have the alphabets with you when you draw stuff or do you know them?

I often randomly comment on other deviants' work. Feel free to return the favour!

Thank you! It was done with sharpie markers. :D

Yeah, actually, I have [this one] hanging on the outside of the door to my dorm room and I have [Calling Down an Angel] hanging up in my room. Or I did, but I took it down to show to a friend of mine. Now, I have one that I did for a friend up... though I haven't put it up here yet for some reason. :(

But yeah, between my calendar, random quotes on my walls, my MC Escher poster (!), chem safety poster and even more random things, my walls are decorated. :)

Thank you muchly! :) And I'm glad you like it. It was rather... umm... interesting and a pain to do, but that was mostly the illuminations that were the pain, not the calligraphy.

 to Ellie!!! And to you, of course! ;)
